What are web site backlinks

How do they work with Google? Back in the early 90′s when Sergey Brin and Larry Page were working on a new way to organize content online (on a massive scale), they created something that would keep track of all the inbound links that a website received. The more inbound links a website got early on, the higher it ranks in Google. Of course there thinking was very different back then, and there main goal as college students was to simply create a much better system for organizing content on the world wide web. But ever since, Google has evolved into something much greater. Many people are starting to build websites and various things to be shown on the web and it’s much easier to do now on top of that. You don’t have to manually encode the php structure & layout of the website itself. You simply upload a mysql database, install a database to it (Joomla, Zen Cart, WordPress, and others), and you’re done. So in response to this, people are now trying to cheat the system to rank higher in Google in respects to back-linking. So because of this, Google has been taking action to stop this. Quality Content is now KING With recent updates like the BuildMyRank update, the more official update for Google Penguin, Google is starting to take a stand against all the people who are back-linking like crazy & taking advantage of it through “online services & companies”. Google wants to only rank quality content, that’s also SEO friendly, on the top of their search engines as opposed to people trying to take advantage of their system. So yes, it;s important you read about how the optimization of Google works, but it’s also important that you realize back-links are becoming a thing of the past (despite how they are still valued in the optimization of your websites, primarily constituting the flow of traffic as a result of those back-links), and that quality content is now KING (400 words or more is known as great, even though I’ve heard others say Google LOVES around 800 words of great content). Final Thoughts If you have any thoughts or questions about our topic over what are backlinks and how do they work, anything that was discussed on this page, or what you’ve heard about back-links all comments are welcome FOR MORE INFORMATION SEE http://slayton1s.com/what-are-backlinks-and-how-do-they-work/

I've never actually read anything like this that actually told us about what back links are! This was very interesting to read. I have just assumed they were "bad" because that's what the Penguin Google had me believe.
